Catherine Marino comes to GLI with extensive professional experience in creative institutions. Before supervising countless events at the Museum of Latin American Art from 2012-2015, Catherine led the initiative to establish the first docent program at the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco, CA. As a photographer and arts educator, she participated in a panel series at the Society of Photographic Education National Conference in 2010 and 2013, which discussed the retelling of the history of photography to include artists of diverse backgrounds. During her time at the University of Arizona, she received the prestigious Ansel Adams Internship at The Center for Creative Photography (CCP), which allowed her to conduct research in the CCP archive, comprising the largest collection of 20th century North American photographers. Her interest in underrepresented artists and gender politics directed her academic writing and research towards female artists who predominantly worked in alternative photographic processes.
Catherine has taught at the University of Arizona, where she holds an M.A. in Art and Visual Culture Education. She received a B.A. from the University of Southern California.
